任天堂アメリカ社長｢レジーコング｣退社へ。最後のメッセージ全文和訳

ニンテンドーアメリカの社長兼最高執行責任者「レジー・コング」の愛称で親しまれてきたレジナルド・フィサメイ氏が同社を退社することを発表しました。

その風貌と振る舞いから皆に愛され、「引退したら海でスキューバダイビングの店を開きたい」と語っていたレジーは、ニンテンドーファンにどのような想いを抱いていたのか、どのような想いでニンテンドーアメリカをけん引してきたか。

Hi, Nintendo fans. Reggie here. By now, you may have heard the news. Yep, I’m retiring.

I wanted to reach out directly to you, the Nintendo community, because there’s one thing I really want to say, ‘thank you’.

Thank you for your never-ending support, and for your passionate love of Nintendo. And personally, for giving me a Mushroom Kingdom full of incredible memories that I will never forget, ever.

From the first time I saw the nickname ‘Regginator’ I realized that Nintendo fans share a unique sense of community, a bond that goes beyond just a love of video games. For these past 15 years, I’ve been honored to be included as part of your family.

Just as you understand that Nintendo always tries to put smiles on faces. well, let me tell you, you put thousands of smiles on mine.

As I head off in a couple of months to spend more time with my wife, my family and my friends, I’m handing over the controller to Doug Bowser. In April, Doug will become the new president of Nintendo of America.

Doug is a passionate and powerful leader, and a guy who in his youth probably spent too much time in front of a Donkey Kong arcade machine. Inside Nintendo, people already know him as a driving force, and you’ll come to see that too. And I ask you, with a name like Bowser, who better to hold the keys to the Nintendo castle?

Doug has a strong relationship with Mr. Furukawa and all the teams at NCL and NoE, so I know that together our teams will continue to surprise and delight.

You know me as a gamer, so you can probably understand how incredible it’s been to work at nintendo. One of the signature experiences of my life.I leave in good health and good spirits. And believe me, my body is still ready.

In April, I’ll be dropping the title that’s meant so much to me.

But I’ll retain one that means even more Nintendo fan. From the bottom of my heart, thanks again for everything.

みなさんこんにちは、レジーです。今回はみなさんにお伝えしたいことがあります。私は…ニンテンドーアメリカを退社することにいたしました。この場を借りて直接みなさんに、そして任天堂に関わる全ての方にお伝えしたいことがひとつだけあります、「ありがとう」。

これまでずっと絶えることのないたくさんの応援、そして任天堂への熱い思いに今、感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。私が携わってきた「キノコ王国」で経験した沢山の愛すべき思い出たちは、決して忘れられるものではありません、ずっとこの先も。

最初に私のことを「レジネーター」と呼んでくれた時、任天堂を取り巻くみなさんのユニークなセンスを確信したものです。そして、みなさんのビデオゲームへの愛情を通じて絆を感じることができました。この15年の間、みなさんの「家族」の一員になれたこと、とても嬉しく思います。

ご存知の通り、任天堂はこれまでいつだってみなさんを笑顔にする取り組みをしてきました。だけど言わせて欲しいんです、私の方がみなさんに沢山の笑顔を貰いました。

私はこれから１〜２ヶ月のうちに、もっとたくさんの時間を妻、家族、そして友人達と過ごすため、これまで握っていたコントローラーをダグ・バウザーに託すことにしました。4月からは彼がニンテンドーアメリカの新しい社長となります。

ダグは熱くパワフルなリーダーであり、彼は若い頃にドンキーコングのアーケード筐体に夢中になり、多くの時間を費やしてきた人間です。また任天堂社内において、彼が実行力のある人間であると皆に知られており、きっとこれから先みなさんにもそれを感じてもらえることでしょう。今、彼以外に任天堂王国を維持できる人間はいないのでは？と私は思います。
